Drinking is always a
favorite pastime of vacationers, and Philadelphia provides some
delightful watering holes for you to visit. In this quick
guide to the bars of the City of Brotherly Love, we've included
pubs and lounges of all kinds to help you achieve your goals,
whether they be spending quiet moments with your loved one or
getting sloppy with old friends. Enjoy; this round's on
us.
Dock Street Brewery and
Restaurant
2 Logan Square
(215)496-0413
Ever heard of Dock Street
beer? This is where it came from--brewed and bottled in
Philadelphia. For that reason, we strongly recommend
paying a visit to their headquarters of sorts, located right on
Logan Square. The bar itself is huge, and when you combine
that with the house beer and the outstanding food, you've got an
establishment that's hard to stay away from. Dock Street
Brewery is ideal for a nice dinner and a few great beers.
Mia's
17th and Locust Streets
(215)545-4655
Looking to go out and pick
up girls or guys? Head to Mia's; everybody else does.
The city's most popular hangout for lonely hearts attracts a
mainly after-work crowd, and the mood is very respectful and
dignified, so don't worry about any undue harassment.
Mia's is recommended for a group of singles on the prowl; leave
that guy with the ball-and-chain behind.
The Bards
2013 Walnut Street
(215)569-9585
We wanted to throw this
one in because it's the perfect example of a real Irish Pub.
This place is highly recommended for arriving early and
departing at last call, as it's comfortable enough to entertain
hours of stimulating conversation and enjoy a beer or twelve in
a great atmosphere. You've got to come here if you are
looking for a quiet hole to haunt for the evening.
Happy Rooster
118 South 16th Street
(215)563-1481
The Happy Rooster is
noteworthy for two big reasons. First, it has the best
assortment of after-dinner drinks in all of Philadelphia, so we
don't even have to tell you that it's a great place to stop at
post-restaurant. Also, the weird and eclectic music in the
background will keep you on your toes, as they play everything
from salsa to European and mostly everything in between.
II Bar
14 North Front Street
(215)922-7800
Looking for a place to do
a little wining after your dining? Look no further than
the II Bar. Located at Panorama in the Penn's View Inn,
the bar is quiet, romantic, and curved. It also features
an impeccable collection of wines, so you can impress your loved
one by uncorking an expensive vintage. Definitely the
place to go as a final stop on your Big Date.
